Palette explanation
THE LANDSCAPE OF COLOUR
New ways of creating colours have inspired the Colour Flow 2022 palette, including the results of vegetal dyeing, such as avocado as the base for the pink shades. The Calendula flower inspired the yellow tones. Coffee, tea, mud, rust and earth dyes influenced the browns.
Colour is about perception; our eyes see it and our brains tells us which colour it is by picking up on the wavelength combinations of light and translating them into colour. When combined with certain materials the colours of Colour Flow can trick your mind. Colour, light reflection and the type of material interact to create unexpected new experiences.
In the Colour Flow 2022 palette, the world of diverse colours is becoming an integrated whole, with many unique hues combining a touch of many colours. It tells a story of diversity, subtlety and uniqueness translated into a palette. By putting together these mixed tones, you can come up with individual, striking colour statements.
Tones of reds, greens and blue are evenly distributed in the Colour Flow 2022 palette. The reds are pigmented shades, with a touch of brown to soften them; the lighter reds are soft, neutral, mature pinks. The greens have a hint of blue in them, giving them a flowing touch. The greens are all quite tonal, apart from one vivid, lighter tone. The blues are both soft and misty, and there are two active blue tones. The blue range also includes two greyish blues, giving them a space-like quality, as if they are floating non-colours.
The palette also has a range of yellow, orange and red tones. Among the yellows is a bright, vivid, yellow tone; the rest are shades of orange, warm brique and two more neutral greenish yellows. The neutrals range from yellowish, neutral browns to warmer, deeper browns.
The lighter white tones are new, intriguing whites inviting a deeper look in order to understand their nuances. The palette does not have a solid black and white and there are few fully saturated brights. Many of its tones are intriguing colour mixtures; it is a highly nuanced range of colours. However, it is far from being a subdued palette; it features strong and colourful mid-tones. All the colours of Colour Flow can be combined, you can feel free to mix and match between the four stories since the palette is created in such a way that its colours work together seamlessly.
The 16 colours of the Vision 2022 book can be added to and mixed with the 40 shades of the Colour Flow palette with fully harmonious results.
