Natural irregularity
Renewal uses environmentally friendly, responsibly produced, sustainable materials that connect us with nature, such as hemp. The materials express the irregularity and poetry of nature. Waste materials are pressed into a solid and usable material that is biodegradable. Egg shells are an example of waste materials from the bio- and food industry that are abundant raw materials and can be reused in a circular manner.

Right material, hemp bio-composite
Zero impact materials
Zero-impact materials are not materials designed with the intent to just minimize their impact on the environment; they are dedicated to creating no impact at all. Materials have to change, also in their manner of production, by using renewable energy in factories and by recycling waste plastic back into products. To meet today’s challenges, we need a shift to regenerative agriculture, water conservation and land management. Products are part of a circular material flow, and should be safe for people and nature. Flexibility, durability and modularity are crucial aspects of product development.

Right material, Leap™ plant-based leather
Grid constructions
Renewal’s materials are based on gridded modular structures conceived with the aim of using less material and saving weight. The geometric cubic or honeycomb-like frame constructions are inspired by nature and can be seen as man-made additions to natural landscapes. Perforated metal filters and grids form the basis for these structures and transparent mesh is used as a cover. The grid can reflect or filter light like the leaves of a tree.

Mono
Dynamic constructions are created using mono-materials whose components are entirely waste-free; the emphasis is on making the most of what you have. The dynamic surfaces consist of space and residual space, shapes are created by the material and formed within it. The outcome is meditative and sculptural and plays with light and shadow. In the processing of the material, architectural and sculptural elements are formed. There is contact between the shapes, which slide or fit perfectly into each other.
