Material Concepts
Reflect
The Culture of Care materials reflect the light, atmosphere and colours of the surrounding environment and can influence a person’s mood. The materials shift in colour, revealing subtle gradations. The material surfaces range from being shiny and reflective, referring to the need for guarding peace of mind and privacy, to being transparent and translucent, revealing a more open and sociable mood.
Tactility
The materials are ultra-lightweight and sensitive; intimacy and tactility are essential aspects of the Culture of Care materials. By making layers or pleats, airy volumes are created. The transparency of the materials creates a play of colours when they are layered.
Balance
The materials are calmly soothing and can have a healing effect by uplifting our mood and emotions. They evoke serenity and offer space for reflection and contemplation. Materials express softness, fluidity, and ease and can also include cool, striking metallics. The focus is on equilibrium and a new, harmonious tranquillity.
Delicate
A striking simplicity is apparent. Folds and cuts provide the materials with depth and volume. They catch the eye as the sunlight plays across their shiny surfaces. Materials are reflective or metallic and often shine and glow. Delicate surfaces are made from hard or soft materials, perforations and cutting give rise to poetic effects. Shine and luminance create a glow on solid surfaces, adding interest, visual appeal and softness.
