Materials add a narrative to a design

Materials are adding an important storytelling element to design. The maker, the artist, where a material was made and from what are all details that add to the value of the final product.

A shift in perspectives will unlock more than any innovation, the movement in society is translated into materials.

Transformation of materials

Materials that were used in a certain way for decades will be viewed through new eyes. Metal can be soft and delicate, finishes can be transparent and show the honest material underneath. Humble materials can be used in a rich manner and treated with enriching techniques.

Limitless

Pantone 16-3205 TCX

RGB 181 152 163

The colour Limitless is a dusty lilac colour that is a great base for other colours. Adding colours makes the Limitless tone seem like a warm base tone.

Rooted

OvN-79001

Pantone 19-0000 TCX

RGB 65 62 61

The colour Rooted is a dark tone that is not a black but it has a deep brownish tone to it. Rooted works as a dark base to add tonal shades to, like dark blue, brown and dark green, gradually building up to lighter tones.

Power

OvN-16010

Pantone 18-1444 TCX

RGB 159 68 64

Power is a red with depth. It is a grounded confident colour that is warm and powerful. It is a great colour for solids and mono colours but it becomes rich when used in different shades that create depth.
