A simple life
While there are many factors in the world that seem beyond control, intentional living emphasises the significance of aligning actions with personal values. This approach entails living in accordance with values and involves breaking old habits and cultivating new ones. Living intentionally is also about striving for personal growth and making mindful choices that align with values, beliefs and goals. Key aspects of this lifestyle include simplifying daily routines, eating mindfully, spending time in nature, and disconnecting from technology in order to increase self-awareness and enhance the connection with others and with one’s surroundings. Intentional living has a nostalgic touch, evoking times when life seemed simpler.
The home
The materials for Intentional Living are soft and warm and seem to come from different eras. Everyday life and everyday objects are emphasised, and the home is a space where one can slow down, relax and feel safe. Being forced to deal with the instability of the future has shifted the mindset towards towards rethinking life and its meaning. Materials become humble and unassuming but functionally effective, as we seek control over the world. Approaching the future of materials in a modest but constructive way paves the way for finding new experimental combinations and melanges.
Human chain
Intentional Living is about the value of a unique experience and improving the quality of life, focusing on a non-consumer point of view. In a turbulent environment and economy, people choose unique pieces; houses and outfits are an expression of personality and individual experiences. Conscious choices are made based on the value of time and individual craftsmanship. Nothing needs to be new; instead there is a revaluation of the stuff that already exists. For products and materials to last a lifetime and be sold again after use, the industry must learn to appreciate the concentration and attention it takes to create a material that will endure now and forever.
Non-consumerism
A product is made by a chain of people and the connections between the raw materials, production and the manufacturing process are becoming more important. Seeing and acknowledging the presence of multiple hands on the product increases the emotional value of materials over a longer lifespan. Connecting to one's inner world and thoughts will also boost the capacity for introspective reflection, creating a proactive foundation for life.
