Trend connection and overlap analysis

For Vision 2022 we have identified four main drivers of change that will become points of influence. The world is complex and many of the developments are interlinked. Overlapping and interconnected issues resemble the parallels and meridians of an atlas.

Time is one of the  connections and is represented in all four drivers, from seeking a sense of security found in our nostalgic past to future time travel.

The mass is examined, from global demographics, to young people and to the growing numbers involved in e-sports and gaming communities .

Today’s youth are influencing all four drivers. Demographics show that they are the most diverse generation ever, and are digital natives who are demanding change in our current systems.

Culture is important as ever, from Asian culture to changing a culture and way of doing for a better planet, African and street culture and the digital world culture connect the four drivers of change.

Identity and playing with identity matters. How do people express the self? Can we think about the self beyond ego?

Storytelling help us connect and better understand each other. Stories as an aid to gain understanding of different cultures and to reach out on an emotional level, not merely data. Untold stories that matter for our shared history and future and stories to engage a larger online audience.

Change is inevitable, a new world order will bring many changes with it. For the future of our planet there is profound change needed on both an industrial and individual scale. In the digital domain change is needed to break the monopoly of the few dominant companies, and AI needs to be implemented without bias.

Connecting with a new perspective, the natural world, with each other and the digital domain are what the four drivers have in common.

For the 2022 edition of Vision we worked together with artists and researchers globally to create a broader perspective on the topics. The issues have a worldwide impact yet the viewpoints per country and continent differ. To get a more nuanced view it is important to reach out and add multiple perspectives to your projects.

The Speed of Change Asia, and China in particular are developing fast. The pace and scale of the developments have a global impact. China is investing in many countries around the world. The Laws of Nature Climate change has a global impact. Weather extremes will influence all geozones. Less developed countries are vulnerable as are the countries based along the equator. Western consumerism is at the heart of the problem. Global systems will have to change and the local, smaller scale will become more important.

Future World History has strong roots in Africa. The impact is global, historically the trail of colonisation creates the roots that many causes are embedded in. A time is coming where a new history and a new map of the world is being shaped. Cultures are connected across the world and their footprint and roots form a global web.

Encoding Reality has an impact worldwide. The digital world is changing our physical world. More advanced digital countries will be impacted the most and this will cause a divide between the more advanced countries and those areas that are less technologically advanced. Global culture reaches us all and the data stream connects us all.
